Cookie policy

    What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Some are needed for a site to work at all. Others are optional, and the law says we have to ask before we use those.

    What this site uses

We have kept this deliberately small. There are three cookies, and one of them only exists because you told us what you wanted.

NameSet byWhat it doesHow long it lasts
__dplOur hosting platformRoutes your request to the right version of the site. The site cannot be served reliably without it.Session
em-consentUsRemembers whether you accepted or rejected optional cookies, so we stop asking.12 months
session-idOur hosting platformCounts visits so we can see which pages are used. It does not identify you or follow you to other sites. If you reject optional cookies, we clear it from your browser.Session

The first two are strictly necessary, so they are always set. The third is optional. If you reject it, we remove it from your browser on every page you visit.

    Video players

We do not load the Vimeo or YouTube player until you click to play a video. If you do, that provider may set its own cookies. That is their doing rather than ours, and it is covered by their policies, but we would rather you knew before you clicked, which is why every video asks first.

    Fonts and images

Everything else on this site is served from our own domain. The typefaces are hosted by us rather than loaded from Google Fonts, and the video thumbnails are stored on our own site, so simply reading a page does not tell any third party that you were here.

    Changing your mind

There is a cookie settings link in the footer of every page. It reopens the choice and takes effect immediately. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though that may affect how some websites work.
